Hilton Norfolk the MAIN

Hello Hello my people! I hope you’re having a great start to the week. If you’re me, you’re still missing July 4th weekend… EVERYTHING was perfect! Hilton Norfolk the MAIN spoiled us and we had the time of our lives at our staycation in Norfolk with family and friends.

Hilton Norfolk the MAIN is more than just a hotel. It is often used for business amenities such as conferences, meetings, special events, etc. There are constant activities and sights to see as well. While I was there, we rode on the Ferry, visited Waterside District, watched fireworks at Grain, and visited both of the restaurants. The rooms overlook the Elizabeth City river and downtown Norfolk! From my window, I could see it all! It was a spectacular experience and truly a dream to spend the weekend.

Seeing the fireworks from the patio of Grain was magical. The Hilton always hosts parties and special events at Grain, or you can rent out the space and host your own party. We loved being able to listen to the live music, enjoy their appetizers and have drinks to celebrate the 4th!

The most appealing part of the Hilton in Norfolk is their unique art scattered all around the building. Drew and I took a little browse around to see all the different exhibits and the history behind them! Our favorite was the hand carved tree imported from Africa located on the first floor. Drew was contemplating asking the front desk how much it was cause he wanted to buy it lol! Definitely not for sale babe…. Haha. BUT if you’re a local, go take a walk around the MAIN and learn about their art pieces.

Also, let’s talk about everyone’s favorite thing …. F – O – O – D …. Duhhh! On Friday night we took a stroll down to Varia with my brother and his girlfriend Liz for dinner. Oh boy were we spoiled and stuffed. We started off with “mama’s meatball” and arguably it was one of my favorite parts of the night. Of course, we all got wine cause …. Well why not lol! But go figure, I am the only one that had pink Moscato… everyone else had pinot noir! We had a hard time choosing some entrees because they all looked SO GOOD! So, we decided to go with their famous wood fire meat pizza, shrimp gnocchi, and their meat lasagna! They were all above and beyond with presentation and taste!

The next morning, we took a stroll down to Saltine. It’s a very popular brunch spot on the first floor. They have a full raw oyster bar, a mojito/bloody mary truck, and killer dessert. We decided to get a variety of dishes and all share. We got oysters, she crab soup, crab cake benedict, crab mac n cheese, lobster toast, crème brulee pancake, and the extra large cinnamon roll!

Having a staycation was everything I wanted and more for the holiday weekend. Gave me time away from the busy world to unwind and spend time with family and friends. I caught myself saying over and over again, “wow, what a beautiful world we live in.” I encourage you to stop every now and again and take a look around you. Soak in how truly blessed we are to live in this beautiful country! If you’re ever in Norfolk or just need a weekend away, contact the Hilton Norfolk the MAIN and find their special deals and events going on!
