H A I R tell all!

Hey y'all! I wanted to answer some of the frequently asked questions about my hair. However, the most important factor that I focus on is PREVENTING DAMAGE! Here is my step by step process & the “tell all” about my hair products! I have linked my products for you all underneath the descriptions!

First off, I use the Nutricare restructuring shampoo and conditioner by Fanola! After putting in the conditioner, I let it sit for a few minutes before rinsing it out. I often switch up shampoo & conditioning products because I love trying new brands, but this is what I’m currently using. Plus, the smell is amazing! This may gross you out but I only wash my hair once a week. Yikes, I know, but it helps with volume and holding curl since my hair is naturally straight and very long. Don’t knock it till ya try it! It’s also very healthy for your hair, allowing the oil to set in instead of stripping it out daily. Another huge volume hack of mine I blow dry my hair upside down! It works WONDERS! I can go more in depth on a future blog post about specifically volume if that is something you're interested in.

When I get out of the shower, I put a quarter size of Argan oil in my hair and let it sit for about 20 minutes while I do my make up. I use the Argon Oil of Morocco by OGX because it’s not too heavy and prevents my hair from looking frizzy on the ends after drying/styling. It instantly penetrates the hair shaft for a shiny and softer result. It also protects against heat and UV damage. A little bit goes a long way and it is only $6 on Amazon! Click the photo below!

If I am NOT washing my hair that day, dry shampoo is my absolute bestfriend. I use more dry shampoo than regular shampoo. This literally is what creates most of the volume you see in my hair. I use a variety of brands but I am currently using Batiste with collagen! It is very affordable (Under $15 for a set of bottles -- click photo below) and easy for travel.

If I am putting any type of heat to my hair that day, I spray hair primer/heat protectant all throughout my head to protect it. THIS IS SO IMPORTANT! In college I completely fried my hair and has taken over a year to get it back to as healthy as it was. Do not crank up the heat on your tools and spray that heat protectant ladies. I use Regis Designline style primer from amazon!

I have talked about my curling iron before, but I am clearly obsessed with it lol! It is made by HerStyler and has 5 different barrels in the box that all vary in size so you don’t have to buy different size curling irons. The barrels conveniently detach from the wand so you can change them out easily. It is SO affordable — only $37 from Walmart for 5 different size wands! Such a steal!

I am currently not using any type of extension in my hair. About a year ago I had an extension halo, also known as “the crown” by hot heads extensions! I loved it but truly do not need it and haven’t put it in my hair for over a year now. Extensions look amazing, but if you can settle for a halo like I had, it is far less damaging to your hair and you have the flexibility of taking it out and putting it back in at anytime! I do get highlights in my hair every 12-15 weeks. I do NOT over do it. LOTS of questions about who does my highlights... I go to Lisa Davies at Natural Image in Suffolk, Virginia. She is currently not taking new clients. However, if she does open up spots I will let you all know. I have been going to her for 10 years and love her work! Plus, she is HILARIOUS and is so close to my entire family!

Be sure to check out my instagram story for a video of the process and some funny bloopers of filming! If you have any more questions about my hair, my products, and what I do, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE reach out! I love helping y’all and providing you with the best advice and recommendations. Love you all, hope you have a great week!

XOXO
