10 SPRING DATE IDEAS

SPRING TIME IS HERE! There is SO much to do during this time of year so take advantage of it. Sharing my top 10 favorite date ideas for the spring time:

1. Backpack & Bites

Pack up your top three classy cheeses, fancy crackers, fresh fruit, your favorite finger sandwiches, and your wine/beer of choice for you and your significant other. Take a drive out to your favorite nearby hike and spend the afternoon climbing to the top. At sunset, lay out your picnic spread and watch the sun go down together. This is such a classic spring activity and let's be honest... WHO DOESN'T LOVE CHEESE ;)

2. A Yummy DIY day

Search for your nearby Farmer's Market (most are open on the weekends!) and make your list for two projects today: Pick and assemble your own flower bouquet & homemade ice cream! Take a walk through with your significant other and match up your favorite flowers, vase, fillers, etc. Mostly all Farmer's Markets will have a local flower vendor present. Next up, grab all your necessities to make your homemade ice cream (not all Markets will have all the ingredients you need, so you may have to make a pit stop at your local grocery store!): heavy cream, whole milk, sugar, sea salt, vanilla extract, any add ins you want such as brownies or cookies.

Here's a quick recipe:

*Ingredients: 1 3/4 cup heavy cream, 1 1/4 cup whole milk, 3/4 cup of sugar, 1/8 teaspoon of sea salt, 1 tablespoon vanilla extract, and 2 cups of add ins you'd like*

- Pour 1 cup of the cream into a saucepan

- Add the sugar and salt.

- Warm the mixture over medium heat until sugar dissolves.

- Remove from heat and add remaining cream, milk, and vanilla extract

- Stir to combine and chill in the refrigerator.

- When ready to churn, pour into ice cream maker and churn

- Transfer ice cream to an airtight container and place in the freezer till ready to eat

ENJOY!!!! If you don't have an ice cream maker, there are MANY recipes around the internet to try out! This is a casual DIY day date idea that is SO much fun!

3. Festival Festivities

Every town is bound to have an annual Spring Festival to attend! Whether it's a food festival, carnival, wine/beer festival, etc., the spring festivities are always a blast with your significant other! For my Virginia people, here is a list of upcoming festivals throughout the state. After a day at the festival, make a pit stop at a local piano bar or open mic night to close out the night!

4. Peddle to the Patio

Tell your significant other you're taking them on a surprise date! Rent out tandem bikes & take a tour around your town together. Make reservations at their favorite casual patio spot (maybe a seafood restaurant, brewery/winery, etc.) and peddle to and from! If you're local to the 757, the boardwalk in Virginia Beach is the BEST place to do this!

5. SPRING TIME BUCKET LIST!

Pick one item on your spring bucket list and cross it off together! Here are some ideas:

- Attend opening day for your favorite baseball game

- SKYDIVING!!! A spring time crowd favorite ;)

- Visit Washington DC to see the Cherry Blossoms

- Take a weekend getaway trip to a cabin in the mountains

- Go on a camping trip together

6. Color Run

Nothing like working hard towards a goal with your lover! Research when your local spring Color Run is happening and train together for it. Set a goal time, create a plan, and stick to it! This run is a 5K (3.14 miles) so it is completely doable in a short training time period. Color Runs are so much fun and eventful. Here's a link to the Color Run website to find a run near you!

7. Gardening 101

Creating your own garden can be overwhelming, but doing it with your significant other this spring will be a unique learning experience for the both of you! Some fruits and vegetables expecting to be planted during the spring season are honeydew, cucumber, beets, broccoli, potatoes, and raspberries! After you've got a handle on your garden and you're beginning to grow some amazing fruits & veggies, start researching dishes you can make with your new hobby!

8. A Day on the Water: Canoeing, Kayaking, Paddle Boarding

There are SO many spring water sports out there to get into! Some of my personal favorites are Canoeing, Kayaking, and Stand Up Paddle boarding. Take a loaf of bread with you and feed the ducks along the way. Or if water sports aren't your thing, take a spring trip to the beach and take a long walk. Collect a variety of seashells and create your own centerpiece together!

9. Horses & Holes in one

This is one of my all time favorites! Trail riding with horses is such an exciting experience with your loved one. Many organizations have guided trail rides so if this is your first time, no need to panic! Trail rides are typically an hour long and I'd highly recommend asking your tour guide to snap some photos of y'all! If you're still in the mood for some fun afterwards, stop by mini golf or top golf for some food and more one on one fun! These are two activities that you can be terrible at and it's totally okay (lol!).

10. Berries & Baking

A "must do" during the spring time is to go BERRY PICKING!! A perfect way to get some fresh air together and get out of the house! At most berry picking farms, there may also be a market to walk through, a petting zoo, or other fun activities. There's something so special to me about picking your own strawberries for the season. After spending the day picking, pick out two recipes you can make with your strawberries and make it for dessert that evening! Here are some ideas: Strawberry Cobbler, Strawberry Ice Cream, Strawberry Shortcake Cookies, Chocolate Covered Strawberries, etc.

If you try out any of these, share it with me! I love seeing all of your adventures. I hope this Spring is everything you hoped for & more. Lots of love y'all!

XOXO - Amber
